Wyoming Department of Transportation Aeronautics Division - 2020 Aviation Economic Impact Study

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) Aeronautics Division conducted an Aviation Economic Impact Study in 2020. The study surveyed 34 public airports with paved runways across the state and evaluated airport users and uses to determine each airport’s economic contributions to the communities they serve.

Wyoming airports are essential transportation networks, and they play a key role amid many sectors of the state’s economy. As well as providing a direct avenue for tourism throughout the state, Wyoming airports make possible a variety of essential services such as wildland firefighting, search and rescue operations, air medical services, medical supply deliveries, and providing access for important forestry and agricultural functions.

The summary and data within the study defines the Jackson Hole Airport as a primary responder to aeronautical demands in our community by generating 14,910 jobs and contributing $1.2 billion in annual economic impacts during 2020. The full WYDOT Aeronautics Division Economic Impact Study and supporting documents can be found here.
