Airport to Host Open House to Discuss Safety Needs
The Jackson Hole Airport will host a second open house on February 5, 2026, to update the community on its ongoing conceptual planning study for a potential new aviation safety facility.
The Airport provides Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) and other life safety functions as directed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to ensure the safety of the community and the traveling public. The location of the existing safety facilities present safety concerns due to the lack of unimpeded, direct access to the runway.
The study is evaluating all possible facility locations that meet FAA requirements in the safest manner possible while balancing the environmental sensitivity of the airport’s surroundings. The preliminary assessment of sites will be shared during this open house.
The FAA regulates and often funds a large portion of projects that ensure a safe, efficient, and well-functioning airport for the community and traveling public. The FAA funds are derived from users of the aviation system, not taxpayer dollars, and are providing more than 90% of the planning study cost.
Community members are encouraged to attend the Community Meeting on Thursday, February 5, from 5 to 7pm at the Airport’s Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Facility, located adjacent to the airport’s short-term parking lot. Attendees may use the airport’s public parking lots; parking will be validated for the event.
